Nature photography is what Karen's Photos is all about! It is in the presence of deserted beaches, majestic mountains, or the tiniest wildflowers, that I sense the wonder of life and the beauty of our Earth. I have attempted to capture the essence of these miracles with my photographs and I hope that you will share the experience when viewing them.
Digital painting is also a passion, resulting in creations that fool the eye. "Is it a painting or is it a photograph?" is a question I am often asked at art shows. The "paintings" are "faux aquarelle" (false watercolor), a complex process that takes the photograph to a new level of artistic creation, portraying more expressively what I envisioned in my mind's eye at the moment the shutter was released. The camera is but an instrument for collecting the bits and bytes of information which can then be molded as a mound of clay would. For this reason, I only shoot photos in "raw" format so that I have a pure unmodified collection of pixels. These pieces are printed on fine art papers to further enhance the illusion. If you would like to read further about this new medium, please click here to go to my faux aquarelle page.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your visit to my galleries!
